Eve Penberthy

Eve Penberthy’s dedication to community, leadership, the outdoors, and creative expression began to form during her years at the Temba school. Adventuring through the redwoods, coasts, and hills of Northern California deeply rooted her interest in combining outdoor education and sustainable living with self-exploration and community building. She completed the LEAPYEAR experiential education program in 2011-2012, accredited through Antioch University, Seattle. During that year she spent three months interning at an orphanage in Tanzania, focusing on program development while leading art and dance classes and hoeing the potato fields. Her experience in LEAPYEAR strengthened her commitment to unconditional compassion, non-violence, and authentic communication, inspiring her to join the Play in the Wild! team. She is a Wilderness First Responder and has been backpacking and adventuring in the wild since she was eight. She currently studies at Whitman College, majoring in Environmental-Humanities and volunteering at the STEP Women’s Shelter.
